I first met and fell in love with this sweet couple when I photographed their maternity portraits earlier this summer.  They were filled with so much excitement and I couldn’t wait for their little guy to arrive so we could photograph him too.  Kelly previously worked in the wedding industry, so she knows a thing or two about how important it is to find the right photographer for the job.  I am flattered and grateful that she chose me to document such an important and special time in their lives.  Like I do with all of my newborn sessions, we shot on location at their home.  Not only is this comfortable and convenient for the parents because they have everything they need to care for the baby right there, it creates a timeless and authentic backdrop for the portraits.  Their home.  Their nursery.  Their bed.  Their pets. No crazy forced poses.  Just them, loving on their little one.

This was one of those sessions I just didn’t want to wrap up.  We were having so much fun sharing our birth stories, the ups and downs of breastfeeding, the art of swaddling (I still owe you guys a how-to video!), travel, you name it.  I feel like a broken record saying it time and time again, but when clients open their home and their families to me in such a way, it is impossible not to leave as friends.

Kelly and Aaron are so clearly head over heels in love with each other.  Every photo of them together gives me goosebumps.  Just look at the way he looks at her.

Kelly’s grandmother knit this blue blanket for Johnathan.  I’m excited for her to see her great grandson peacefully wrapped up in it!

If we only had a behind the scenes video of us trying to get this shot with the dogs. It was nothing short of a miracle and I’m super psyched that after lots of laughs, peanut butter, and jumping off on and on the bed 100 times, we nailed it.
