When Chanda first contacted me to book a session, her excitement nearly jumped off the page.  It was her and Susan’s first family portrait together as a family.  She was looking for something fun and candid and REAL, which is right up my alley.

We planned for a lifestyle shoot inside their home, but when I arrived, Susan’s daughter  had just taken a huge fall down the stairs.  Everyone was frantic and we weren’t sure how (or if) things were going to plan out.  Due to the fall chaos, they suggested we go to nearby park.  It was snowy and cold, so we knew we had to act quickly.  Although it turned out to be one of my shortest sessions, the images that resulted are also some of my most authentic.

The following is a glimpse at some of my favorite images from the session.

Through the cold and shivers, Lawton and Sofie had a ball just giggling and being two happy kids. (the reward of hot cocoa to come didn’t hurt either!)

I came across this quote in an Oprah article a while back and it spoke to me.

“Never mind about birds of a feather. These days, as long as the love is there, anyone can be in your family tree.”

I truly believe that.

Thank you  Susan, Chanda, Sofie and Lawton.  You made the job of capturing your family’s love easy.
