After what feels like a solid month of non-stop gloom and rain, the forecast is finally calling for some warmth tomorrow. Anyone else tempted to play hooky and head for the coast? I know I am!
Last I left off, I shared Part 1 of our Wells Beach Maine Family Vacation Photography. Our vacation continues here…
Jumping waves, fishing for crabs, laughing with my mom – it’s what Maine is all about for me.
We take our breakfast very seriously when we’re on vacation. Typically a bit of a “sugar nazi,” I try to let it all go. I’m pretty sure it’s scientifically proven that a Congdon’s Donut is worth every single empty calorie anyway! You’ve never tasted a donut until you’ve had one of these.
I love the way the light filtered through the blinds as my son lapped up every last drop of cereal milk. Light has the power to make ordinary extraordinary. I’m always on the lookout.
No week at Wells would be complete without Grampie’s famous sandcastles.
…and a trip to Perkin’s Cove. A visit to the candy shop and a Barnacle Billy’s rum punch in hand (in their case, the virgin variety!) = summer at its best.
Our favorite go-to on a rainy day – the Arcade! Where else can you get green teeth and googly eyes for only $20 worth of tickets. 😉
Enjoying the Prescott Park family theater series in Portsmouth NH with friends. Summer 2016, they will be presenting The Little Mermaid. It’s a fun activity for a summer evening and worth checking out with your littles.
Evenings have always been my favorite time at the beach. The crowds are gone and the sun is low. Until the very last drop of light, you’ll know where to find me.
The rest of the family had gone in for dinner, but my budding 6 year old photographer son wanted to keep shooting. How did he do?
At the beach, life is different. A day moves not from hour to hour but leaps from mood to moment.
We go with the currents, plan around the tides, follow the sun. We measure happiness by nothing we can hold… nothing we can catch.
Everywhere…Life is jumping and elusive and momentously momentary. We want to [stretch] the days, distill the memories, make them last.
At the same time, we know that the beauty is in the evanescence.
Every wave comes in, then retreats. Every day promises, then turns its back and slips away.
Every joy has a little tease in it, a give and a take, and leaves a wake of longing.
